DaSOS is a group of musicians gathered together by the 2025 Darmstadt Summer Courses. Our goal is to organize and plan for future Darmstadt festivals that involve the institutions primary resource for participants: The Open Space.

The Open Space is a free-form performance and lecture space sign up that participants can use at their leisure. These productions represent spontaneity, innovation, and critique fueled by a response to the institution and codified artistic endeavors of today. By organizing Open Space events for the future, we hope to create a cultural change in music that we can bring back to our respective parts of the world and continue to push musical boundaries.

In 2025, the Open Space series featured performances of new composers’ music, improvisation, chamber ensemble and solo concerts, and lectures provided by researchers.
